These coasters are a great way to celebrate the Kasuby style of Polish Folk Art. Made from hardboard with a cork backing, this set of six coasters is not only stylish, but also functional.
The design of the Kazsuby Folk Art theme is a modern interpretation of traditional Polish embroidery designs. The origins of Kashubian embroidery date back to the 13th century. The Norbertines in Zukowo opened a school for young ladies from noble families, known from then on as Zukowo school. Later, the 19th and 20th centuries saw a rise of other embroidery schools inspired by embroidery from Zukowo.
The common element in all Kashubian schools is the use of color, based on shades of blue, red, green, yellow and black. This school of embroidery features elements in Polish motifs (forget-me-nots, roses or cherries), exotic motifs (tulips and lilies), and pagan motifs (bees or beetles).
