We are always looking for traditional products that were once common household items, but aren't used often today. These wood butter molds are a great example of way to add a bit of historic, cultural art to your next meal!
Our wood butter mold are handcarved from solid wood from the beautiful mountain resort town of Zakopane, Poland. The tradition of molded butter is still popular in Poland today, and a great way to stay in touch with your ancestry!
The Folk Art butter molds are created by a unique 3 part mold which creates a cubed butter design. Remove the wood pin to unfold the 4 sides of the cube and separate the pyramid shaped top piece. This design features 4 sides of the cube in 2 different folk art patterns, as well as the 4 sides of the pyramid top, which are all hand carved.
For the best results, we recommend coating the butter mold with oil and then wipe clean with a cloth. Place in the freezer for 1-2 hours while the butter softens at room temperature. Remove the mold from the freezer and press butter into mold. Be sure to press butter into all the details in order to ensure they are filled. Return the mold to the freezer for 4-5 hours or overnight. Once the butter is hard, let the mold sit at room temperature for 15-30 minutes before removing the butter. Handwash the butter mold with warm water. Lay flat to dry, turning to prevent warping.
